Year 1

25th March 2024

This half term in Year 1 the children have been exploring technology and how it can help them. They have become more familiar with the different components of a computer by developing their keyboard and mouse skills and they have also started to consider how to use technology responsibly. They have written some rules to follow when using their devices.

Today in Computing the children identified the main parts of computers and used a computer mouse to draw a picture. We created pictures of computers deciding whether to draw a laptop or a desktop. Some of the children used text boxes to add the screen, keyboard, mouse (trackpad) and base unit.

They used the shift key to add capital letters to their writing, The children are now beginning to understand when it is best to change the look of their text and which tool will achieve the most appropriate outcome.
